Need the groups opinion on Access Manager replacing BM
We are currently running BorderManager, but general support is going
away in 2010. Novell says Access Manager 3.0 is the replacement. I was
wondering if anyone here has an opinion on how good of a replacement it
is.
The only features we are using on BM are:
- Internet proxy for users w/single sign-on (clntrust)
- Caching
- BM Access rules.
Will AM3 allow me to accurately reproduce this functionality?

No, will not. It will be supported as long as netware is.

Can you tell me who exactly told you that? This is not accurate.
The plans is to take the LAG component of Access manager as base and add
the bm capabilities. LAG will be changed to be adapted as a single box
as currently with AM3, you need a second box holding the IDP.
This project is still on design phase.

No, AM3 is a reverse proxy only solution. It does not contain the bm
capabilities. Currently there is no replacement for bm, it will come in
the future as i mentioned above

I don't remember the name of the person who told me this. He seemed
knowledgeable though, and said that he was not the normal product
specialist for AM3 and that in the future I should try to get a hold of
either Ryan Nelson or Zach Taylor. He even gave me retail upgrade
pricing from BM to AM3.
As for end of general support, you are incorrect. Please see the
following two links:

go ahead and ask them about how much of bm capabilities are in AM3 right
now.
