Ok, the solution is proxy.pac, but have no idea how to make it work

*.domain.org = NO proxy
BUT
www.domain.org = PROXY

Thanks for help

Seb

Thanks Dave, in fact is it also on Craig's page

I can make it work (opening the ports to this site)
but would prefer to have this site www. (which is kind of "local") to
be forced via proxy with no ports open to it

I do not know if it is possible

Seb

?, but that reference described how to get that specific address, the www.
one to be fed through the proxy while all other addresses in the same
domain go direct - that's what you asked for originally

If there are no ports open to that site, then how does *anything* get to
it ?

Cheers Dave

Are you trying to say that you want that particular site to be open
through proxy, but only through proxy, using filtering to block web
browsing except from the proxy?

I will try to explain it again.
My internal network domain.org, but my website 'Domain.org'
(http://www.domain.org) is hosted outside (my network & ouside my DMZ)

So in IE exceptions for *.domain.org will not allow the site
'Domain.org' (http://www.domain.org) to be seen (as there is no access)

The nicest for me would be to keep IE proxy exceptions (which are very
inflexible IMHO) for *.domain.org & somehow FORCE access to 'Domain.org'
(http://www.domain.org) to GO via proxy.

As I could not get it going, I settled on the other way, which was to
open port 80 in filters to the IP of the 'Domain.org'
(http://www.domain.org) (means it does not go through the proxy, but
users still can access it)
No ideal but works

If I understand this correctly, you have a web site for your domain
hosted outside your LAN. You want to access it via proxy, but other
traffic not to use proxy.

If the other traffic is not web traffic, then you are fine. Just don't
put an exception for that site in the browser.

If you want some web traffic to your domain to use proxy and some not
to use proxy, a proxy.pac file is really the only way to go here. (You
could also use transparent proxy on BMgr, but I think I would rather
just open the filters up for that site instead, because transparent
proxy would allow more than just the site).

This is what I done. Opened port 80 to the IP of the site, hosted
outside LAN.
All other WEB traffic to other hosts for the domain (quite few) are
inside LAN, so proxy exception is the only way

I think you did the only thing that would work other than using a
proxy.pac file.
